healthy weightloss
Healthy weight loss sounds like a body thing, but really it is a mind thing. What do I mean? Well, as the author below I too have lost weight, 45 pounds over about nine
months. That is why I started this web site, hoping to help others like myself. As many,
maybe you too, I tried for years to lose weight only to fail or to regain what I lost. What
finally made the difference? I realized that I wanted to be healthy, vibrantly healthy.
Thanks to Mike Litman and Jim Roan I gained ideas that I could use for weight loss and
more, much more. Jim Roan taught me that I should start small to see great results. I
switched my coffee for green tea first, then gave up my Pepsi for water. Just that lost me
nine pounds in three months! So when I got used to one change and seen the difference I was motivated to try another change and so on.
Mike Litman taught me to look ahead at the end result. For instance don't think about how I really do not feel like getting out in the cold and walking but think about what I get for getting out and walking (weight loss health, instant energy, endurance, etc). I was always trying to change everything at once and then I just felt deprived. It never worked. But this new way of thinking worked for me and I think it may work for you too. When I got the self-help audio's I was concerned about money and I never dreamed they would help me become a healthier person! Its great how all this stuff is inter-related, don't you think! bonnie--
Make The Shift - Respecting Your Body - For Healthy Weightloss
by Julie Fuimano
After losing more than 40 pounds and shrinking by five dress sizes, people who see me now ask, "How did you do it?" Of course, my reply is not anything special or unique, "I eat less and work out just about every day." Everyone knows how to lose weight. I keep waiting for someone to ask me the right question, which is, "Who did you need to become in order to treat your body differently and achieve healthy weight loss that lasts?"
A Quick Fix
Most people are disappointed with my reply because they want the quick fix. By asking how someone has lost weight, what they really want to know is, what new fad diet or what pill can they take to change their figure? What is the miracle cure for eliminating the extra bulges "round the middle"? There is no such program. The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in, given what your body uses in a day. Eat less, work out and the weight will come off; it has to. Eat less, work out = healthy weightloss!

People struggling to lose weight are focused on behavior modification, a noble effort but full of effort nonetheless. It is your thoughts and beliefs and how you relate to yourself that determines your actions and those actions manifest your results. If you focus only on changing your behavior, then while you will see results, they will not be sustainable unless you also change the thinking behind your behavior. If your ideas about food and your body do not change, then you will be forever on the diet, worried about your weight and focused on your behavior. The moment you stop your focus, you’ll start to regain the weight.
The Inner Shift
The real work when wanting to change your body is on how you think and feel about your body. The relationship you have with your body and with food is where the inner work comes in. Learn to love and respect your body - after all, it's the only one you’re ever going to have - and learn to treat food as a source of fuel rather than pleasure. When you learn to treat your body differently, you will lose weight as a byproduct of thinking and "being" different.
Your body is an incredible machine. It is your spirit's home. It deserves your love and affection. Your body is how you are able to experience this world. Without it, you would not be here. Learning to appreciate and honor your body is your responsibility. And learning how to use your body in order to navigate this world is how you live a rich and fulfilled life.
Become someone who marvels and treasures his or her body. The moment you stop wishing for it to be different and simply accept your body as it is - bulges, scars, limitations and all - is the moment you give up your stress and allow yourself to appreciate and have fun with your body. Your body is a gift that is on loan for your use. Why not enjoy it? Why not figure out how it works best and treat it well? We each have things that we must contend with - medical issues, physical breakdowns and limitations. There is no such thing as a perfect body; each body is perfect just as it is. Learning to get along with yours, to understand how it works and to maximize it so you can have a more meaningful life experience is your job. Everything you experience works through the body - your intuition, your feelings as well as your brain which is part of your body. If you shift to a place of wonder, awe and gratitude, then you naturally treat your body differently which means, you treat your Self differently and this has wonderful ramifications.
The Right Goal
Instead of losing weight as your goal, think of weight loss as a byproduct for living harmoniously in your body. First of all, focusing on losing anything is absurd. If I told you to go home and lose your keys, the only thing that would happen is you would know exactly where your keys were and you would do everything you could to avoid losing them!
Focus your attention on what you want to gain - strength, endurance, tone, better posture, more confidence. You want to wear a bikini, feel sexier or wear more comfortable clothes. It doesn't matter what you desire, but by choosing to focus on what you want more of in your life, that is what you wind up bringing into your life. What you think about your bring about. Choose a goal that adds to your life, not one that you want less of.

Using weight loss or a reduction in sizes is a great way to chart your progress, but again, it's only one way. Look in the mirror and you can see how your body is toning. Notice how your body feels and how much more in tune with it you become. Start wearing more comfortable clothes and as you become smaller, get rid of the old and buy new clothes that make you feel great for the way you look today.
If you are not ready, however, to do the necessary inner work to create a new relationship with your body, then give up your focus on your body entirely. Now is not the time. Give yourself permission to do whatever is right for you. Focus on becoming ready rather than thinking you're supposed to do something now. If you're not ready, you're not ready; and it's okay. You can start small by simply learning to love one part of your body, like your skin or your hair. And with that focus, do whatever it takes to enjoy that part of your body by making it look great, complimenting it on how wonderful it is and appreciating it on how well it serves you.
Too often people get hung up on how other people think or what they think society wants for them. This is your life experience. Give yourself permission to do what works for you. And whatever you do, come from a place of respect for yourself. After all, "you are the most important person in your life" (quote is from The Journey Called YOU: A Roadmap to Self-Discovery and Acceptance).
Now you must decide what is important to you and what you want for yourself and your one and only body and what you will do about it TODAY! Will you chose Healthy Weightloss? bonnie--
